

Kipper Sailing's RYA Day Skipper Courses teaches you navigation, pilotage, seamanship and boat-handling up to the standard required to skipper a small cruising yacht safely by day in tidal waters.
Holders of the RYA Day Skipper Course Completion Certificate are normally able to charter sailing yachts in the UK and overseas and can apply to the RYA for an International Certificate of Competence.
This course runs Saturday morning, though the week and finishes the following Sunday, which means you only need take 5 days off work.
The first 4 days are spent in the classroom on picturesque Lymington Quay, where you learn the basics of navigation, meteorology and the rule of the road. Then it's off to sea for 5 days to put what you've leant in the classroom into practice plus all the practical skills necessary to skipper a small yacht by day including: preparation for sea; deck work; pilotage; engine checks; emergency situations; passage making; handling under & power.

| The prerequisite for participating in a 9 Day Combined Day Skipper course is: Basic yachting experience, to the level taught on a RYA Competent Crew Course; on a flotilla holiday or by crewing on friends' yachts. |
